Firefighter injured battling car parts warehouse fire in Riverside

A large fire destroyed a commercial building and sent a firefighter to the hospital in Riverside overnight. 

Preliminary information indicates that Riverside Fire Department crews responded to the building, located at 5th and Commerce streets, just before 11:15 p.m. Friday. 

Upon arriving, they found the structure fully involved in flames; according to Riverside Fire Department Battalion Chief Mike Allen, the building was a vehicle parts storage facility. 

One firefighter was hospitalized while battling the fire.  The extent of their injuries is not known. 

The building was deemed a total loss. 

What started the fire remains under investigation.
