Woman critically wounded among 5 injured in drive-by shooting overnight on West Side – Chicago Tribune

A 25-year-old woman was in critical condition after being wounded in a drive-by shooting that injured four others overnight in the Lawndale neighborhood, Chicago police said.

Shortly after 12:15 a.m., a crowd was gathered on the street and sidewalk in the 1300 block of South Lawndale Avenue when a silver sedan approached and the occupants opened fire before fleeing east, police said.

At least five victims were wounded by gunfire. A 25=year-old woman suffered a chest wound, and was taken in critical condition to Mount Sinai Hospital. A 62-year-old man was struck to the left thigh, and also was taken to the same hospital where he was listed in good condition, police said.

A third man, 21, suffered a gunshot wound to the left thigh but refused medical help and walked away from the scene. Another man, 22, suffered a gunshot wound to the back of the head, and was taken in good condition to Mount Sinai Hospital. Another man, 26, also was shot to the left thigh and was taken to the same hospital where he was listed in good condition, police said.

No one was in custody for the drive-by shooting, and detectives were investigating.
