People can start donating fans to support Family Eldercare’s Fan Drive at 7 a.m. Last year, the effort raised more than $231,000 and collected 740 fans.

Family Eldercare makes sure all those fans go to people who can’t afford or don’t have air conditioning. Those looking to get a free fan can look up their closest distribution site online.

As of July 5, Family Eldercare said it had distributed 3,977 fans to help more than 6,000 people in 18 counties in Texas. It was down to fewer than 240 fans left.
