SAN FRANCISCO (KGO) — POLITICO reports Governor Gavin Newsom’s office is accusing the office of Alameda County DA Pamela Price of ignoring offers to send attorneys to help prosecute crimes.

The governor’s offer was first made back in February.

POLITICO got a hold of a letter sent by the Governor’s cabinet secretary to Price’s office. It reads in part, “Despite our outreach, your office has yet to make use of these resources.”

POLITCO reports the governor is now rescinding his offer and redeploying those attorneys to the California Department of Justice.

We don’t know why Price’s office hasn’t responded to the governor’s office. POLITICO asked but hasn’t heard back.

ABC7 News has reached out this morning, but it’s still very early for a response.

This comes at a very sensitive time for DA Price. She’s facing a recall campaign — accused of being too soft on crime, though supporters have argued she’s doing the job the way she was elected to do it.

Alameda County District Attorney Pamela says she’s being targeted by groups who want to recall her for the progressive policies she was elected on.

Governor Newsom’s office has been involved in the efforts to crack down on crime in Alameda County, especially in Oakland.

He signed off on the installation of 500 high-tech traffic cameras in March. They’re meant to help law enforcement identify vehicles linked to crimes.

As for the announcement expected Thursday, it’s happening at 10 a.m. You can stream it live in the video player above.
