Deputies shoot driver after pursuit ends in crash in Pico-Union

Los Angeles County Sheriff’s deputies shot a suspected carjacker at the end of a pursuit in Pico-Union Wednesday afternoon.

The suspect, whose identity has not been released, was wanted for carjacking and assault on a peace officer, said Deputy Lucero.

The driver, who was in a gray four-door Toyota Camry, led deputies on a pursuit that ended with a crash at Venice Boulevard and Vermont Avenue just before 3 p.m.

At least one deputy opened fire, striking the suspect and sending them to the hospital in unknown condition, Lucero said.

What happened in the leadup to the shooting has not been released.
