NAPERVILLE, Ill. — A Naperville man accused of stabbing his ex-wife to death during an argument over the weekend is now facing felony charges.

Naperville police said 55-year-old Zokir Kudratov has been charged with two counts of first-degree murder stemming from the deadly stabbing.

Authorities say the charges were handed down after officers were called to Kudratov’s home in the 2500 block of Saddlebrook Drive on Saturday, following a report that a person was not breathing at the home.

When officers arrived on scene they found several people inside the home, including a woman who had suffered several apparent stab wounds.

The woman was transported to the hospital where she was pronounced dead at 1:49 p.m.

A preliminary investigation later revealed that Kudratov got into an argument with his ex-wife, who lived on a different floor of the same home, on Saturday morning.

During the argument, Kudratov allegedly pulled out a knife that he had on him and stabbed the woman several times.

Following the investigation, Kudratov was taken into custody. He was later transported to the Will County Jail after charges were handed down.

“First and foremost, the entire Naperville Police Department sends our sincere condolences to the victim’s family,” Naperville Police Chief Arres said in a press release on Monday afternoon. “To say these incidents are some of the most challenging and heartbreaking in policing is an understatement. I commend our officers and investigators for their professionalism and diligence throughout this tragic situation. Thank you as well to the Will County State’s Attorney’s Office for their assistance and guidance during this incident.”

Authorities have not yet identified the victim killed.

Kudratov is set to appear in court for a detention hearing on Wednesday.
