Brothers, 11 and 16, dead in Lindenhurst accident

LINDENHURST, Ill. — Two boys who were brothers died late Friday night following an accident in Lindenhurst.

Authorities were dispatched to the 1700 block of Grand Avenue on a report of a single vehicle accident with injuries just after 11:35 p.m. Police believe the vehicle left the roadway and struck a tree.

Officers at the scene found a vehicle that was fully engulfed in flames and they attempted to extinguish the fire. Four people, including two boys, ages 11 and 16, were trapped inside.

Once the fire was extinguished, the boys, who were brothers, were pronounced dead at the scene.

Two other occupants were transported in critical condition.

The names of the boys will be released later on Monday, according to the coroner’s office.
