Woman fatally shot in Oakland’s Uptown district – The Mercury News

OAKLAND — A 29-year-old San Francisco woman was fatally shot Friday night in the Uptown district, authorities said.

Her name has not yet  been released pending notification of her family.

The  shooting happened about 10:47 p.m. Friday in the 1900 block of Telegraph Avenue, near William Street.

Police said the woman was shot by a person who fled the scene before officers arrived.

The wounded woman was taken to a hospital where she later died.

Police have not released a  motive for the killing.  No suspect information has been released yet by investigators.

The killing is the 50th homicide investigated by Oakland police this year. Last year at this time police had investigated 53 homicides in the city.
