Illinois man airlifted from Wisconsin crash scene after leaving road, hitting tree

MAINE, Wis. (WFRV) – A man from Illinois was extricated from his vehicle and airlifted to a hospital with critical injuries following a crash into a tree in northeastern Wisconsin on Saturday morning.

According to the Outagamie County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to Taubel Road, west of CTH I in Maine around 7:45 a.m. on July 6.

An initial investigation showed that the driver, identified only as a man from Illinois, left the road and collided with a tree. Deputies say the man had to be extricated from the vehicle where he was then airlifted to a local hospital with critical injuries.

It was noted in the release that alcohol is not believed to have been a factor in the crash.

Taubel Road was closed for roughly four hours and the crash remains under investigation. No additional details were provided.
