Ryan Garcia Expelled From WBC For Using Racial Slurs

Ryan Garcia continues to put himself in one of the biggest downfalls in the sport of boxing. Garcia began to act erratically leading up to his bout with Devin Haney, spouting conspiracies on social media, and even missing weight for the match.

Despite his behavior and missing weight, Garcia still managed to put on a clinic against Haney, ultimately winning the match by decision. Though Garcia was on the top of the world after his big win, he would then test positive for the performance-enhancing substance ostarine. Even when his B-sample was tested, the same results were shown.

Garcia was then dealt a heavy punishment that included a one-year suspension from fighting, having to pay Golden Boy Promotions $1 million, and a $10,000 fine from the boxing commission. The fight with Haney was also overturned to a “no contest.”

To make matters so much worse, Garcia has now been expelled from the WBC (World Boxing Council) entirely. Garcia was apparently on a social media livestream when he presented racial slurs about Black and Muslim people. This behavior has now led to his being expelled from the organization.

WBC President Mauricio Sulaiman announced the expulsion on his X page, which states, “Exercising my authority as president of the WBC, I am hereby expelling Ryan Garcia from any activity with our organization. We reject any form of discrimination. I fear for Ryan well well-being as he has declined multiple attempts for our help with mental health and substance abuse.”

Though Garcia tested positive for the PED ostarine, there is corroboration that he has been using any other sort of substances in his free time. This does not matter though, as his behavior continues to be detrimental to his one great boxing career.

Initially, Garcia was only banned a year from boxing for having tested positive for PED use. Now, he will no longer be able to box for the WBC at all. There is no telling what the other boxing organizations will do, but it could be believed that no one would be willing to work with once his year suspension is up.

Garcia continues to experience one of the worst downfalls of any professional athlete. It is a real shame, as he currently holds a 24-1 record, and is still considered to be one of the best boxers in the world.

Hopefully, whatever is going on with Garcia can be sorted out and the young boxer can find some sort of way to move past all these controversies.
