Man fatally shot in Berkeley – The Mercury News

BERKELEY — A man was fatally shot in South Berkeley Wednesday night, police said.

The man’s name has not yet been released. He is believed to be in his 50s.

The shooting happened about 7:24 p.m. Wednesday in the 2900 block of Martin Luther King Jr. Way near Ashby Avenue.

The man was found shot outside. Medical aid was rendered to him, but he died at the scene.

Police have not yet released a possible motive for the killing or provided any suspect information.

The killing is the second homicide investigated by Berkeley police this year.
