AUSTIN (KXAN) — Austinites braved the heat Thursday to celebrate the Fourth of July at Auditorium Shores.

The popular park that showcases Austin’s skyline hosted the city’s 47th Austin Symphony Orchestra concert and fireworks celebration.

The event began at 4 p.m. Attendees got the chance to try different food and drink options and see live entertainment from musicians and DJs — all before the orchestra took to the stage.

Even before the fireworks, a large crowd could be seen settling on the grass.
