Four units in an Aurora multi-family residence were heavily damaged after a fire broke out Thursday night.

Aurora Fire Rescue responded to a fire in the 100 block of South Sable Boulevard around 10 p.m. Thursday, near City Center Park, according to a news release from the fire department.

The fire department did not confirm whether or not the blaze was started by fireworks.

When fire crews arrived, they found a strong fire in the back of the building, extending into the attic space, the release stated. Fire crews hooked up large hose lines to nearby fire hydrants for water and searched the area for missing people and pets.

“Their firefighting efforts were swift and efficient, bringing the fire under control and preventing further damage to the structure and neighboring structures,” fire officials said in the release.
