‘No immediate danger’ after two wounded at North Riverside Park Mall: officials

US

An argument led to a shooting that left two men injured Wednesday evening at the North Riverside Park Mall in the western suburb, according to authorities.

Two men and two women had gotten into a quarrel at the mall in the 7500 block of Cermak Road around 5:20 p.m., when someone pulled a gun and fired a single shot that wounded both men, according to North Riverside Mayor Joseph Mengoni.

In a statement on social media around 6:30 p.m., North Riverside officials said there was “no immediate danger to the community” and asked people to avoid the mall.

It wasn’t immediately clear what the victims’ conditions were and what hospital they were taken to. Mall officials weren’t available for comment.
