Heat and humidity are on tap for the Fourth of July holiday weekend in Boston, according to forecasters.

“Very warm and humid weather this weekend and into early next week,” the National Weather Service said Wednesday. “Saturday will have the highest humidity levels.”

Independence Day is forecast to reach a high of about 83 degrees in Boston. The service is predicting scattered showers are possible Thursday. Thunderstorms could develop in some places late in the evening. 

“It will be a mild and humid night with lows 65-70,” the service said.

Below, what local meteorologists are forecasting for the holiday and long weekend. 

National Weather Service: “No washouts expected, but a few scattered showers are possible for #IndependenceDay and Friday.”

Vicki Graf, Boston 25 News: “Most will stay dry for the 4th of July (still an isolated shower is possible), but we will have to deal with more clouds and humidity.”

Cindy Fitzgibbon, WCVB: “Temps above average in the mid and upper 80s.”

Jeremy Reiner, 7News: “Clouds Thursday morning then becoming partly sunny.”
