Here’s what will be open or closed on Independence Day

Americans nationwide will be taking time on Thursday to celebrate the birth of the country’s independence.

In honor of the holiday, some businesses and establishments will be closed.

Here’s what you need to know:

Government Offices

Nonessential offices, including the DMV and public libraries, will be closed on Thursday.

Postal Service

Local post offices will also be closed on Thursday. Regular mail will not be delivered, and mail dropped off at blue collection boxes will not be picked up. Facilities will also be closed for retail transactions. However, mail with Priority Mail Express, which operates daily, will be delivered, according to the agency’s website.

Select UPS locations will have limited hours of operation on Independence Day. Delivery services will also be unavailable except for Express Critical.

FedEx offices and services are also closed, except for FedEx Custom Critical.

Amazon delivery services will also be suspended on July 4.

Delivery schedules for each service are expected to resume on Friday, July 5.

Financial Services

July 4 is a Federal Reserve banking holiday, meaning most branches nationwide will be closed Thursday.

The Nasdaq and the New York Stock Exchange will also be closed on Independence Day. However, online banking services and ATMs will still be available to customers.

Retail and Grocery Stores

Aldi: Stores will be open for limited hours on July 4. Specific holiday hours for your local store can be found here.

Costco: Warehouse stores will be closed on Independence Day.

CVS: Stores will be open, but specific store hours can be found here.

Sam’s Club: Stores will be open until 6 p.m.

Other stores like Target, Walmart and Trader Joe’s will also be open on Thursday.
