Princess Charlotte’s first major royal tour appearance has featured in a new viral video, after footage captured during a trip to Canada in 2016 resurfaced on TikTok.

Prince William and Princess Kate’s only daughter celebrated her ninth birthday on May 2. Charlotte has become a popular fixture at high-profile royal events in recent years alongside her brothers, Prince George (10) and Prince Louis (6).

The Wales siblings made their first official appearance of 2024 in June, where they attended the Trooping the Colour celebrations in London, marking the official birthday of their grandfather King Charles III. The children have taken a less-visible public role in the first half of 2024, following Kate’s cancer diagnosis and treatment.

In the absence of regular appearances, so far this year fans have taken to social media to share favorite moments and highlights from past events, including milestone celebrations, ceremonies and tours.

Uploaded to TikTok by user @the_royal_famili8 on June 28, one of the latest of these highlights a moment captured by press cameras during William and Kate’s first major overseas tour with their two eldest children.

In 2016, the couple were accompanied by 3-year-old Prince George and 1-year-old Charlotte for an official visit to Canada on behalf of Queen Elizabeth II.

The family were based in Victoria on Vancouver Island, and the royal kids were present for the arrival and departure photo calls, as well as a specially arranged children’s party at the close of the visit.

Included in the TikTok clip is footage from the family’s departure from Victoria. Charlotte appears to share a touching moment with her mother, waving to crowds that had gathered to wish them a safe journey home.

Captioned “Princess Charlotte has such a beautiful relationship with her mother Kate Middleton. They are so beautiful,” the video has gained over 112,000 views on the social media site so far, and more than 4,400 likes.

A number of commenters have praised the clip, with one user writing: “She’s adorable. I loved this Canada tour. I hope they can come back soon.”

“Time flies so fast,” posted another.

Following her appearance at the Trooping the Colour celebrations this year, Charlotte was also photographed attending a performance of Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour in London with William and George.

After the show on June 21, Kensington Palace and Swift released photographs of the young royals meeting the singer backstage. Swift’s boyfriend, Kansas City Chiefs tight end, Travis Kelce, was also present with his brother, Jason.

On an episode of the brothers’ New Heights podcast after the concert, Jason Kelce described meeting Charlotte as one of the highlights of the evening.

“Prince William was fantastic but the highlight was Princess Charlotte. Prince George was great too. She was so f****** adorable,” Jason Kelce said. “Like, I cannot express how… I don’t know, maybe it’s because I have three girls now. She had fire to her, she was asking questions; it was, that was the most electric part.”
