Police officer injured, mass arrests made in Lakeview Sunday

A police officer was injured and mass arrests were made overnight on Sunday in Lakeview, according to Chicago police.

A 20-year-old woman refused an order by a police officer near the 1000 block of West School Street at about 12:10 a.m., police say. According to police, she then pulled the officer’s hair and struck the officer. The officer sustained a minor laceration but refused medical attention.

She was immediately taken into custody, police said, and detectives are investigating.

Nearby on the 3000 block of North Clark Street, Chicago police ordered mass arrests at about 1:23 a.m. The number of arrests is currently unknown, and the scene is active, according to police.

The arrests took place near the location of the Chicago Pride Parade, which took place Sunday morning.
