Double shooting in Hayward leaves one teenager in grave condition

HAYWARD — An 18-year-old Pleasanton man is in grave condition after he was shot Thursday night while driving in Hayward with a friend, police said Saturday.

The 17-year-old boy who was wounded, also a Pleasanton resident, has since been released from a hospital, police said.

The shooting happened about 11:11 p.m. Thursday near the intersection of Mission Boulevard and Industrial Parkway.

The two victims were the only ones in the vehicle.  Police are trying to ascertain why they were in Hayward, Officer Cassondra Fovel said.

After they were shot the two were able to drive to the area of the 100 block of W. Tennyson Road where the 17-year-old called 911, authorities said.
