Department of Justice investigating deadly officer-involved shooting in Downey

The Department of Justice is looking into the circumstances surrounding a deadly officer-involved shooting that occurred Saturday night. 

According to a statement released by the Downey Police Department, officers received a call regarding a disturbance in the 7100 block of Stewart and Gray Road around 6:15 p.m. 

“Officers arrived on scene and during their investigation, an officer-involved shooting occurred,” Downey police said. “A male subject was shot and died from his injuries.” 

His identity was not immediately released, and no officers were hurt in the incident, authorities added.
