Crash involving multiple vehicles leaves 1 dead, 2 hurt in Diamond Bar

US

A violent multi-car crash in Diamond Bar claimed the life of one person and left two others hospitalized early Saturday morning.

According to preliminary information, CHP officers were dispatched to the eastbound span of the 60 Freeway near the Lemon Avenue exit around 3 a.m.

When they arrived, they found what was described as “a chaotic scene,” by KTLA 5’s Omar Lewis.

Video obtained by KTLA shows the immediate aftermath of the collision where a mangled vehicle came to rest on its roof near the left shoulder of the freeway.

Passersby were seen attempting CPR and trying to drag some of the victims out of the wreckage; first responders with the Los Angeles County Fire Department quickly arrived and used the Jaws of Life to free them.

The other motorist was found lying in the roadway after being ejected from their car, initial reports indicate.

Of the three victims, one died and the other two were rushed to area hospitals in unknown conditions. Their identities have not been released.

All but one lane of the eastbound 60 Freeway was closed due to the crash and a SigAlert was issued for the affected stretch of roadway. A timetable for when the freeway would completely reopen was not immediately established.

What caused the crash is under investigation.
