Fan in Grimace costume chugs beer during rain delay in wild Subway Series scene

Ronald McDonald may not have been lovin’ it if he had seen what Grimace was doing at Citi Field during the rain delay of the Mets-Yankees game.

While it wasn’t the real Grimace, a Mets fan in a costume of the purple fast food character was captured on video chugging a beer on the Shea Bridge as dozens of fellow fans stood nearby and filmed on their phones.

The character-clad fan seemed to be standing on some sort of elevated surface and chugging what appeared to be a can of Miller Lite to the delight of those around him.

The Grimace pumped his fist in celebration after he finished the can.

The shenanigans took place after the skies opened up over Flushing, Queens and prompted a rain delay of over an hour.

Another video surfaced on social media that showed a bare-chested man standing under falling water while chugging a can of beer.

The lone fan stood amid the green seats while the water washed over him and other fans could be seen in the distance staying dry under the covered areas at Citi Field.

The rain delay began with one out in the fifth inning when the downpour and thunderstorms started, prompting the umpires to pause the game with the Mets up 4-0.

The torrential downpour created a wild scene at Citi Field where visibility was severely limited and it sent fans running for cover.

Photos from inside the stadium showed pools of water along the warning track and near the infield.

The worst of the rain lasted 15-20 minutes but the tarp didn’t come off until 9:29 p.m.

The Grimace phenomenon has captured the imagination of Mets fans since the character threw out the first pitch earlier this month and started a run of Mets success that nearly has the team back to .500.

The Empire State Building even was lit up purple on Wednesday night after the character celebrated his birthday at the landmark earlier in the day.
