DAVENPORT, IA — It took more than a year, but a dog that spent hundreds of days inside a Midwest shelter finally has a place to call home.
It was 420 days, to be exact.
Last week, the Humane Society of Scott County in Davenport, Iowa shared on social media that Faya, their longest resident and shelter favorite, “finally gets to sleep in a home of her own.”
“To say our staff and volunteers were overjoyed is an understatement,” the June 19 Facebook post read. “We’ve given her so much love and care over the many months she was here and this is the moment we were all waiting for.”
As if the sweet pic wasn’t convincing enough, the adoption listing for the 4-year-old mixed-breed dog described Faya as “gorgeous and ever so lovely.”

All she was missing was an animal lover who felt the same.
Arriving in April of 2023, the animal shelter wished Faya well: “We are so incredibly happy for her and her new best friend!”
