Reckless driving suspect flees from police on dirt bike in Compton

US

A man suspected of driving recklessly was arrested after he led officers on a pursuit while on a dirt bike in Compton Monday night.

Preliminary information indicates that CHP officers were dispatched to the area of Alondra Boulevard and Alameda Street around 10:30 p.m. on reports of possible street racing activity.

As they arrived, the responding officers attempted to stop a man on a dirt bike who was not wearing a helmet, according to stringer service OnSceneTV. He failed to yield, and a pursuit was initiated.

Video taken during the chase obtained by KTLA shows the man driving slowly down the street while seemingly trying to speak to the police officers pursuing him; they tried to box him in but were initially unable to do so, the footage indicates.

The man eventually pulled over in front of the Compton DMV where he was taken into custody without further incident, according to initial reports.

He was not immediately identified, and what charges he may be facing, if any, are unknown.
