‘Don’t be alarmed’: UTPD to hold emergency drill Tuesday at DKR-Texas Memorial Stadium

AUSTIN (KXAN) — The University of Texas Police Department will hold a large-scale emergency practice drill Tuesday at Darrell K Royal-Texas Memorial Stadium.

UTPD sent an email to the campus community and posted on social media to alert the public Monday. The drill will be from 10-11:30 a.m. and is to “ensure our emergency response teams are well-prepared to handle various scenarios and to enhance the safety and security of our community.”

UTPD wants people to avoid the area around the football stadium during the drill and “not to be alarmed by the increased first responder activity.”

“This is a practice exercise only and there is no real danger to the public,” the email said.
