After a scorcher of a Saturday where parts of the Bay Area experienced temperatures in the mid-90s and in the triple digits, Sunday is expected to bring a bit of relief.
“Today is going to be generally cooler than yesterday,” National Weather Service meteorologist Rachel Kennedy said. “We’re looking at temperatures that are about five to six degrees cooler than yesterdays.”
Temperatures are still expected to be in the upper 80s to the low 90s in parts of the Bay Area, but Kennedy said it won’t be hot enough to trigger a heat advisory like the day prior.
The eastern-most part of the East Bay hills and the northern parts of Sonoma and Napa counties are expected to be the hottest today. Meanwhile, the South Bay and the East Bay are expected to get the most relief compared to Saturday.
Southern Monterey and San Benito counties could also see dry lightning starting Sunday afternoon.
Moving into next week, Kennedy said to expect similar temperatures on Monday and Tuesday with those numbers dropping even further by mid-week.
Even though the National Weather Service won’t be issuing a heat advisory, Kennedy said people should still take measures to stay cool.
“Even though we’re cooling down, take precautions while participating in outdoor activities and drink plenty of water,” she said.
