As the saying goes, you are what you eat.
So living a healthy lifestyle starts right there.
“It always begins with your plate, what you eat,” says Lifestyle Specialist Maisha Wynn.
Wynn herself began a lifestyle transformation around 10 years ago, after her “beloved mother” died. Wynn said obesity runs in her family, and her mother’s death forced her to confront her own lifestyle choices.
“I decided, ‘Maisha, if you don’t make a lifestyle change, you’re going to end up down that same road,’” Wynn said. “So over the course of 10 years, I’ve lost over 122 pounds.”
That started with healthy eating, of course, and on Sunday’s WGN Weekend Morning News, Wynn joined Gaynor Hall to share some of the food items she recommends for anyone seeking a healthier lifestyle.
But it’s more than just eating healthier.
Wynn says mindfulness, waking up with a positive attitude and gratitude are all key components to a healthy lifestyle.
“It’s really about looking in front of the mirror and creating a positive affirmation,” Wynn says. “So I tell myself every day, ‘I am love and light for all the world to see.’”
