MIAMI (AP) — Miami Marlins left-hander Jesús Luzardo was scratched from his scheduled start on Saturday against the Seattle Mariners because of a back issue.

Marlins manager Skip Schumaker said before Friday’s series opener against the Mariners that Luzardo had been dealing with the back issue for a couple weeks. The team evaluated him further on Friday.

Luzardo has dealt with other injuries throughout the season and was previously on the injured list on April 26 because of left elbow tightness and on May 11.

The 26-year-old Luzardo is 3-6 with a 5.00 ERA in 66 2/3 innings and 12 starts. He allowed five hits, two runs, two home runs and struck out two in his last start, on June 16 at Washington.
