Jaylen Brown pays tribute to Terrence Clarke at parade

Amid the hoopla at Friday’s parade, Celtics star Jaylen Brown took a moment to honor late local legend Terrence Clarke.

Brown held up a custom-made, black and green, No. 5 Clarke Celtics jersey from his duck boat so the world could see.

Clarke, who was born and raised in Boston, died in a car crash at age 19 in April 2021. He was considered to be a potential lottery pick in the NBA Draft that year.

Before his passing, he developed a strong bond with Brown. In the years since, Brown has made a conscious effort to fortify Clarke’s legacy.

He spoke at the Vine Street Community Center in Roxbury when they named the court after Clarke.

“We truly believe that if we keep speaking his name and remembering him, that energy is still gonna be around,” Brown told reporters. “So, Terrence is no longer here with us today, but as long as I’m here, a piece of him lives with me, and a piece of him lives in all of us.

Brown wore Clarke’s Brewster Academy jersey in the dunk contest earlier this year.

Brown has described Clarke as a “lil bro.”
