Child dies at Orange County water park

A child died at a water park in Orange County on Saturday, authorities confirmed.

In a post to X, formerly Twitter, the Irvine Police Department said officers and the Orange County Fire Authority responded to an incident at Wild Rivers Water Park in Irvine earlier Saturday.

Authorities said a juvenile was transported to a local hospital, where they later died. No age or description of the victim was immediately made available.

Irvine Police said the death did not appear to be water-related. No time of the incident was provided.

No additional details were made available.

Wild Rivers Water Park was originally open from 1986 to 2011. The current iteration and location, at 10000 Great Park Boulevard, opened in the summer of 2022.
