Boy, 16, killed, two others hurt in Chicago shooting, police say

A 16-year-old boy was fatally shot and two others wounded in a drive-by Friday evening in the Lincoln Square neighborhood, police said.

Police said the boys, all 16, were shot as they were getting into a car on the 5600 block of North Rockwell Street just before 7 p.m. A witness told officers someone had fired at the group from a black SUV, police said.

One boy was shot in the back and killed, police said. Another was shot in the shoulder and taken to St. Francis Hospital in serious condition. The third boy was shot in the knee and was in fair condition at Illinois Masonic Hospital, police said.

Police said no one was in custody and area detectives were investigating the attaack.
