Anthony Caton of Round Lake, New York, died of injuries sustained in the crash.

A New York man was killed over the weekend in New Hampshire and two others were injured when a gust of wind caused a crash involving three motorcycles, authorities said.

New Hampshire State Police responded around 4:41 p.m. on Saturday to the crash on I-93 southbound in Campton, where they found three motorcyclists and three motorcycles resting on their sides.

Police said the initial investigation into the crash indicates that a gust of wind caused one of the motorcyclists to go off the paved portion of the road onto gravel, before they returned to the road and lost control. The motorcycle crashed, leading the other two to crash as well.

The driver of the first motorcycle was taken to Concord Hospital with severe injuries and a second motorcyclist was taken to Speare Hospital with minor injuries, police said. A third motorcyclist, identified by police as 41-year-old Anthony Caton of Round Lake, New York, was taken first to Speare Hospital and then Dartmouth Hospital, where he died of his injuries.

Police said the crash remains under investigation.
