Metra train strikes vehicle in Orland Park, one person hospitalized

ORLAND PARK, Ill. — A person is in the hospital after a Metra train struck an occupied vehicle while heading toward Orland Park Wednesday evening.

According to Metra officials, SWS train No. 823 struck a vehicle near 153rd Street a short time before 7:42 p.m.

Metra officials said a male driver was taken from the vehicle and taken to Silver Cross Hospital in New Lenox for treatment of his injuries. His condition is unknown at this time.

Two trains have been delayed due to the collision.

SWS train No. 826, scheduled to depart 179th Street in Orland Park at 8:12 p.m., and SWS train No. 827, scheduled to depart Chicago Union Station at 9:42 p.m., will no be in operation due to the crash.

Train No. 836 will be the next inbound train to accommodate passengers in Orland Park, while train No. 841 will be the next outbound train to accommodate passengers at Chicago Union Station.
