Male body pulled from waters of Lake Michigan near Navy Pier

US

CHICAGO — Chicago first responders on Wednesday pulled a male body from the waters of Ohio Street Beach on Lake Michigan days after a 58-year-old man went missing.

SkyCam9 flew above the scene in the 600 block of N. DuSable Lake Shore Dr. around 7:30 p.m. as emergency marine crews worked to recover the floating body.

Authorities have not identified the man, but the recovery comes days after the presumed June 15 drowning of a male boater in Chicago’s “Playpen” near Oak Steet Beach.

Witnesses say the man fell off a boat.

Following a weekend-long search, authorities were unable to recover his body and deemed the ensuing efforts a recovery operation.

WGN News has reached out to Chicago police for additional information.

This week alone, two drownings in Lake Michigan claimed the lives of a 16-year-old male at Montrose Beach and an adult woman after a boat capsized in Winnetka.
