AUSTIN (KXAN) — Parents and staff from Lake Travis Independent School District got their first look at preliminary designs for two new facilities that will be built in the district.

The district is using 2022 bond dollars to pay for a new elementary school and a new science facility.

During Wednesday’s school board meeting, the design firm in charge of the projects showed off what those projects could look like.

Elementary number 8, as it is being called for now, will be built on Hamilton Pool Road.

“The kids will have beautiful views, a lot of great angles, a lot of play space,” said Paul Norton, Lake Travis ISD Superintendent. “So, it is a larger campus than the last elementary school that we built. A lot of playground space. So, I am very excited  to provide great instruction for our kids at a brand new campus,  so that is always exciting for the kids as well.”

Norton said the new science facility will be attached to Lake Travis High School and will have state of the art technology.

“The labs will have a classroom space and a lab space in it, then we will have additional flex classrooms spaces that just have classroom space and it will be a two story structure,” said Norton.

Wednesday’s meeting was just an informational session. The board will look over the designs before a final decision is made.
