CHICAGO — A 22-year-old woman was killed in a shooting near the city’s 31st Street Beach.
The shooting happened around 10:05 p.m. Wednesday in the 600 block of East 31st Street. Police said officers responded to a call of shots fired and found two female victims.
A 22-year-old woman was shot three times in the chest and was transported in critical condition to Insight Hospital, where she was later pronounced dead.
Police said a 20-year-old woman was shot in the left thigh and was transported to the University of Chicago Medical Center in good condition.
No one is in custody, Area One Detectives are investigating.
This follows a shooting at 63rd Street Beach on Monday where three people were shot, including a 14-year-old girl.
Mayor Brandon Johnson will hold a press conference at 9 a.m. Thursday to make an announcement on the expansion of the Emergency Supplemental Victims Fund.
