Wendell Pierce says his former “Suits” co-star Meghan Markle and her husband Prince Harry “look very much in love.”
The actor, who played Markle’s character Rachel Zane’s father Robert in the hit legal series, spoke about the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s relationship as he recalled his meet-up with them last year.
“When [Meghan] came into town, she got an award last year, had a chance to say hello and wish she and Prince Harry well and wish the children well,” Pierce told People.
“They look very much in love and were very happy, so that’s the most important thing.”
The former co-stars previously shared a close bond during their time on the hit USA Network show until Markle quit after season 7 following her engagement to Harry in 2017.
Pierce said working alongside the former actress was “a blast,” but admits that the pair have only seen each other a couple of times since Markle became a royal.
“I’ve gotten to see her just a few times since, and we’ve been able to reminisce and so it’s real, we have fond memories of working together,” he told the outlet.
Earlier this year, Pierce revealed what he said to Markle on her last day of filming the show.
Appearing on “Who’s Talking to Chris Wallace?” the Tony winner, 60, shared a story from Markle’s final scene.
“It was the last night of working and I said, ‘Meghan, your life is going to change, and you’re going to be in a bubble, but just always remember, no matter what, I’m your friend — you have lots of friends,’” he recalled to host Chris Wallace, 76.
“‘We’re always thinking about you, we’ll always be there for you. And you know, no matter where you are, always know you have a friend in me,’” he added.
The “Selma” actor also called the Duchess of Sussex “wonderful” as both a person and as an actress.
“She’s the nicest person ever,” he gushed, adding that she probably “would love to act again.”
Markle, 42, retired from acting when she joined the royal family in 2018.
In 2020, Markle and Harry, 39, relocated to Montecito, Calif., after taking a step back as senior members of the firm in 2020.
