US

A star-studded Hollywood fund-raiser for President Biden headlined by the likes of George Clooney, Julia Roberts and Barbar Streisand brought in upwards of $30 million for his campaign Saturday night.

The A-list night included an interview of Biden and former President Barack Obama, who discussed the high stakes of the upcoming election with late-night host Jimmy Kimmel

Biden flew across nine time zones from the G7 summit in southern Italy for the occasion, sending Vice President Kamala Harris in his stead to a Switzerland summit on how to end the war in Ukraine.

During their discussion, Kimmel asked Biden what he saw as his biggest accomplishment during his term so far.

“We have the strongest economy in the world today,” Biden said. “We try to give ordinary people an even chance.”

The event, held in Los Angeles’s 7,100-seat Peacock Theater, also featured Jack Black and Sheryl Lee Ralph singing, while actors Jason Bateman and Kathryn Hahn introduced Kimmel. Sista String and The Silhouettes were also among the performers.

Tickets started at $250 and ranged as high as $500,000 for a package that included photos with both presidents, plus admission to a VIP afterparty, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Also in attendance were California Gov. Gavin Newsom and Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass.
