1 killed, 1 seriously injured in shooting on Far South Side

CHICAGO — A man was killed and another was seriously injured in a shooting on the Far South Side on Sunday afternoon.

Chicago police say the gunfire erupted just after 3:15 p.m. in the 11500 block of South Lasalle Street, in the city’s West Pullman neighborhood.

According to police, the victims, a 34-year-old man and a 59-year-old man, were in the area when they were approached by an unknown individual who pulled out a gun and opened fire in their direction.

The 34-year-old man suffered several gunshot wounds to his body and was taken to the hospital where he later died from his injuries.

The 59-year-old man also suffered several gunshot wounds to his body and was taken to the hospital in serious condition.

Currently, it is unclear what led to the deadly shooting and authorities say an investigation is now underway.

Authorities have not yet identified the victim killed.
