NYPD: Woman suspected of fatal Midtown stabbing arrested, charged with murder

US

Police say they arrested a woman Friday whom they suspect of fatally stabbing another woman outside of a Chinese restaurant near Times Square, earlier this week.

Samaria Lopez, 22, was taken in to custody Friday afternoon in Midtown after police say she plunged a knife into the chest of another 22-year-old woman, Jordin Walston.

The two were fighting at around 10:15 p.m. Tuesday outside of Weng Palace — an eatery across the street from the Port Authority bus terminal — police said, but did not say if the victims knew each other or how the fight began.

First responders took Walston, a Harlem resident, to Bellevue Hospital, where she was pronounced dead.

Police said Lopez, who lives in Midtown, fled the scene. She was arrested just after 3:30 p.m Friday and charged with second-degree murder.

Lopez’s attorney could not immediately be reached for comment.
