Man killed, woman critically injured in Belmont Cragin drive-by shooting

CHICAGO — A man was killed and a woman was critically injured after a gunman opened fire into a car on the city’s Northwest Side early Saturday morning.

According to Chicago police, the deadly shooting unfolded just after 2:30 a.m. in the 3000 block of North Cicero Avenue, in Belmont Cragin.

Officers say the two victims, a 30-year-old man and a 31-year-old woman, were sitting inside a vehicle in the area when another car drove up and someone inside opened fire.

The two victims were both struck by gunfire and drove themselves to the hospital where the man later died from his injuries and the woman remains in critical condition.

Currently, it is unclear what led to the shooting and no arrests have been made.

Authorities did not provide a description of the person responsible and an investigation is underway.

The victim killed has not yet been identified.
