Adams City High School lockdown lifted; one student taken into custody

US

Adams City High School was briefly placed on lockdown Monday afternoon due to a police investigation, the school district said in a news release.

Commerce City police took one student into custody, Chris Garcia, the school’s principal, said in the release.

“Please take this opportunity to speak with your student about the dangers of bringing a weapon of any kind to school, or even threatening to use a weapon,” Garcia wrote. “All weapons are strictly prohibited on school property with the exception of law enforcement professionals.”

Earlier in the afternoon, Garcia told parents in an email that there was no immediate threat and that “all students are safe and accounted for.”

After-school activities and regular dismissal will continue Monday as scheduled, Garcia said.
