Angelina Debuts Her New Blonde Hair at the 2024 Venice Film Festival

Angelina Jolie debuted blonde hair at the 2024 Venice Film Festival—and a tan ruched Atelier Versace gown on the red carpet. The actress attended the premiere of her film Maria, a biopic on opera singer Maria Callas, wearing the dress with a matching shawl and striking gold flower pin. (The brooch appears to be very similar to the Rose Ouvrante 1972 flower brooch that Callas owned and Jolie wore while making the film.)

Jolie wore hair styled straight and opted for a bold red lip and matching nails.

It was the actress’s third appearance of the day at the annual event. In the afternoon, she attended a photo-call for Maria, wearing a long black dress from her own label, Atelier Jolie. She let her Cartier panther brooch take the spotlight, an item dating back to 1971 that was once owned by Callas herself. The brooch is now part of the Cartier Collection, and the jeweler lent Jolie the piece to wear in the film and at the festival, per Vogue. Jolie told the outlet, “You can imagine how special it was to wear a piece of jewelry that was hers.”

Jolie first arrived in a sheer brown V-neck dress by Saint Laurent, paired with Jessica McCormack diamond earrings and a matching diamond ring.

Playing the role of Callas touched Jolie deeply, the actress told reporters earlier today, as she could relate to her story. Director Pablo Larraín said the film is “about a woman who spent her life singing for others, taking care of others, worrying about relationships….Now she’s ready to take care of herself and find her own destiny.”

Jolie said of her own connection to Callas, “Well, there’s a lot I won’t say in this room that you probably know or assume. I think the way I related to her was probably the part of her that is extremely soft and doesn’t have room in the world to be as soft as she was, as emotionally open as she truly was…I share her vulnerability more than anything.
