The Chicks sang “The Star-Spangled Banner” to kick off the final evening of the 2024 Democratic National Convention Thursday night (August 22). The Texas trio of Natalie Maines, Martie Maguire, and Emily Strayer performed the National Anthem onstage at Chicago’s United Center, filling out the a capella number with three-part harmonies. Later in the evening, P!nk took the stage alongside an acoustic guitarist and a handful of vocalists—one of whom was her 13-year-old daughter, Willow Sage Hart. P!nk and Hart shared singing duties on the pop artist’s hit ballad “What About Us.”

Throughout the week, there had been speculation that Beyoncé would perform or even make an appearance at the Democratic National Convention. But, while the superstar did lend her 2016 Lemonade song “Freedom” to Democratic candidate Kamala Harris’ campaign, she did not attend the event.

The 2024 Democratic National Convention featured numerous musical guests, including Stevie Wonder, Maren Morris, Mickey Guyton, James Taylor, Common, Patti LaBelle, Lil Jon, Jason Isbell, John Legend, Sheila E., and others.
