Focus Features Sets Fall 2025 Release For Yorgos Lanthimos, Emma Stone & Jesse Plemons Reteam ‘Bugonia’

The next Yorgos Lanthimos directed feature Bugonia starring his Kinds of Kindness thespians Emma Stone and Jesse Plemons is hitting theaters on Nov. 7, 2025.

Focus has the movie stateside, while Universal Pictures has the Will Tracy-written movie abroad sans Korea which is being handled by CJ ENM.

In the movie, two conspiracy obsessed young men kidnap the high-powered CEO of a major company, convinced that she is an alien intent on destroying planet Earth. The project is based on the South Korean sci-fi comedy, Save the Green Planet! written and directed by Jang Joon-Hwan and produced by Sidus. This English language version was developed by CJ ENM with Ari Aster and Lars Knudsen at Square Peg. The production has been financed by Fremantle and CJ ENM. 

Producers are Ed Guiney and Andrew Lowe for Element Pictures, Lanthimos, Aster and Knudsen for Square Peg, Stone for Fruit Tree and Miky Lee and Jerry Ko for CJ ENM.

Plemons recently won Best Actor at Cannes for Kinds of Kindness. The movie opened via Searchlight to the best theater average 2024 to date with over $75K. Stone recently won Best Actress for Lanthimos’ Poor Things at the Oscars. That was one of four Oscars won including hair and makeup, production design and costume design.
