The Film That Lit My Fuse is a Deadline video series that aims to provide an antidote to headlines about industry uncertainty by swinging the conversation back to the creative ambitions, formative influences, and inspirations of some of today’s great screen artists.
Every installment asks the same five questions. Today’s subject is Seth Meyers, the Emmy-winning host and writer of NBC’s Late Night With Seth Meyers. He began his career as a cast member on Saturday Night Live in 2001, before graduating to head writer and co-anchor of Weekend Update.
Meyers succeeded Jimmy Fallon as the host of Late Night in 2014, welcoming Weekend Update co-anchor Amy Poehler as his first guest. In February of this year, he extended his NBC contract until 2025.
In The Film That Lit My Fuse, he talks about the profound impact Monty Python and the Holy Grail had on his ambition to get into comedy. Meyers also discusses how important his parents have been for his career and his decision to eschew acting.
