Today we’re making my top 5 of bourbon cocktails! I’m often asked my favorite drink, but I never have an answer – it’s always changing! So to help break down my top picks, I decided to categorize them by spirit. Here are my current faves with bourbon. All of them are classics, but not all classic builds. THE OLD FASHIONED RECIPE 0:52
2 oz. (60 ml) Old Grand-Dad 100 proof Bourbon
1/4 oz. (7.5 ml) rich Demerara syrup (2:1 sugar:water)
4 dashes Angostura Bitters
Small piece of orange
Expressed orange oil
Orange peel and cherry for garnish

THE WHISKEY SOUR RECIPE 1:50
2 oz. (60 ml) Old Grand-Dad 100 proof Bourbon
1/2 oz. (15 ml) rich Demerara syrup (2:1 sugar:water)
3/4 oz. (22.5 ml) fresh lemon juice
1/2 -1 egg white or 3/4 oz (22.5 ml) aquafaba
Expressed lemon oil
3 drops Angostura Bitters for garnish

THE ARTIST’S SPECIAL RECIPE 3:20
1 oz. (30 ml) Old Grandad Bonded Bourbon
1 oz. (30 ml) fresh Lustau Amontillado Los Arcos Sherry
3/4 oz. (22.5 ml) fresh lemon juice
3/4 oz. (22.5 ml) homemade groseille syrup* or homemade grenadine

THE DESHLER RECIPE 4:31
2 oz. (60 ml) Old Grand-Dad Bonded Bourbon
1 oz. (30 ml) Lillet Rouge
1/2 oz. (15 ml) Pierre Ferrand Dry Curaçao
2 dashes Peychaud’s Bitters
1 orange swath (expressed oil)
1 lemon swath (expressed oil)
Orange peel for garnish

THE BOULIVARDIER RECIPE 5:45
1.5 oz. (45 ml) Old Grand-Dad 100 proof Bourbon
3/4 oz. (22.5 ml) Cocchi Vermouth di Torino
3/4 oz. (22.5 ml) Campari
Flamed orange oil

*GROSEILLE SYRUP (RED CURRANT SYRUP)
1.5 cups white sugar
1 cup 100% red currant juice
1/4 tsp rose water
In a medium sauce pan, combine sugar and red currant juice. Stir over heat until sugar is completely dissolved. Remove from heat and add rose water. Stir to combine.
